Our external reviewer Sara has another mini-review for us! She has been recommending a lot of great middle grade books and here is another to add to that list!
Synopsis: Reece’s new dog, Ruckus, tears through life like a Tyrannosaurus rex. He bites everything that moves and drives Reece’s mom nuts. The puppy was Dad’s idea, to make things easier for Reece after his parents’ separation, but Ruckus is not easy at all and Mom is getting fed up. When her diamond earrings go missing, it sends the family into a tailspin. What happens when a dog swallows something precious? Reece is about to find out. But they can’t give up on this little Jack Russell terror, can they? He’s family, after all.
I really enjoyed this as a beginning reader’s chapter book. It was a pretty quick read, so I don’t think an emerging reader would have too much trouble reading this on their own. The plot was fast-paced and fun, with some great messages for the reader about family troubles, which I thought was helpful. They did a great job showing what it was like to have a family member who isn’t the best at their job; in this case, the father. I would really recommend this to a young reader.
You can buy this book on Amazon and find it on Goodreads.
Check out this book called Dork by my author friend Will Winkle about a guy trying to get his crush’s attention while navigating his life as part of a fraternity house!
His book can be found on Amazon, Goodreads, and his website: WillWinkle.com.

If any of you out there like Brandon Sanderson, then you should check out my latest video. It is a reading vlog of his book Skyward and I had quite a time reading this one!
Hey bookworms! I have some pretty cool news for you! As many of you know, I have started making Youtube videos to talk about books. I am one with the “booktube” ways now…just kidding, I still have a lot to learn in terms of filming and editing. But along the way, I have made some really cool fellow booktuber friends!
One of these such friends is Savy. She is an author and booktuber based in Chicago and she talks about tips on writing, books, and other social issues. I will link her Youtube channel so you can go check her out!
She has a company that she runs called Furever Home Friends. They sell stuffed animals that are super adorable along with other merchandise such as T-shirts, posters, and books. All of these stuffed animals are based on real animals and they are looking to build their collection of stuffed animals they can offer.
They recently launched a Kickstarter campaign to help fund the production of these new additions to the Furever Home Friends family. Plus, they give 10% of all proceeds made to Chicago Animal shelters so you would be helping out animals in need at the same time as supporting a good, wholesome business.
I know it would mean the world to Savy if you could check out the campaign! She has worked very hard to make this small business a reality. Feel free to share the campaign as a way of support if you can’t pledge anything. That way more people will see and learn about this wonderful business that helps kids learn about social issues through children’s stories involving lovable animals. And the fact that some of this money helps those sheltered animals, in turn, makes it even better!
I hope everyone is having a great weekend and I will be sharing more bookish posts with you in the upcoming week! Happy ready bookworms!
I did my first Wrap Up video and talk about all the books I read in April including my selections for the magical readathon!
Merry Christmas Bookworms!! Happy Holidays or whatever you prefer 🙂 I have been catching up on all my favourite Christmas traditions like watching White Christmas and It’s a Wonderful Life, reading A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens, and even going to a Christmas Eve service with Mom and Dad. Our tree looks really nice (Mom decorated it, I am at my parents for the holidays).
Tomorrow morning I will be on my way to Fort Frances to bring some Christmas Cheer to my good friend Jordan who had to work on Christmas. He is a paramedic so he has to make sure everyone else is being safe over the holidays and give up his own to do so. My flight is at 7am tomorrow but I have a new book to keep me entertained for the journey there and back on New Years Eve.
Also Max says Merry Christmas too. As you can see we both just got out of bed 😛
Well have a great Christmas Day everyone! Eat lots of turkey and drink lots of spirits and keep the good cheer a flowing.
Talk to you soon bookworms.
Busy Busy Busy. I want to read and have no time with big deadlines at work and dog sitting this week. But to be fair, Marley is adorable!
Hopefully I can get to reading more this week but in the meantime, if anyone wants me to do a guest blog post for them and share one of their posts on my blog (as long as its about books) then send me a message and I will give you some recognition 🙂
I don’t even have that many followers lol just sharing the love and being part of the blogging community. Oh also, check out these socks by my co-worker. She is in a very festive spirit this month.
Ok hopefully talk soon about the book I am reading. Peace out bookworms.
