Query Me – My MSWL

Currently open to queries!

As a literary agent, my goal is not just to find incredible stories but to build long-lasting relationships with authors who are as passionate about storytelling as I am. I’m here to help you refine your vision, amplify your voice, and navigate the publishing journey together. If you’re writing in any of the following genres, I’d love to hear from you!

Horror: If your story can send chills down my spine or make me question what’s lurking in the dark, I want to read it! I love horror that’s smart, eerie, and emotionally engaging, whether it’s a creature feature, a campy slasher or something more supernatural. I’m always drawn to psychological horror that makes me think—and feel—long after I’ve finished reading. Especially fond of survival stories. Books comparable to Clown in a Cornfield by Adam Cesare or Dead of Winter by Darcy Coates.

Romance (Bonus if its LGBTQ+): Whether it’s slow-burn love or all-consuming passion, I’m looking for romances that feel authentic and emotionally satisfying. I’m especially keen on stories that reflect the diversity of love in all its forms, with characters who have depth, vulnerability, and heart. And if it has the vibes of a Christmas Hallmark movie, I am a sucker for those. Books comparable to The Charm Offensive by Allison Cochrun, The Ex Talk by Rachel Lynn Solomon, Keep This Off The Record by Arden Joy, and The Lights on Knockbridge Lane by Roan Parrish.

Thrillers: I’m looking for that perfect page-turner! Whether it’s a twisty psychological thriller or a fast-paced crime story, I want to feel the tension rise with every chapter. I’m a sucker for jaw-dropping twists and well-drawn characters that keep me up late at night. Bonus points if it is a secluded setting thriller. Books comparable to I‘m Thinking of Ending Things by Ian Reid, I Let You Go by Clare MacKintosh, When She Was Me by Marlee Bush and Dead Lake by Darcy Coates.

Science Fiction: Do you have a bold new vision for the future or a gripping space adventure? I love sci-fi that asks big questions and challenges the norm while keeping the characters and their struggles at the heart of the story. I’m particularly drawn to diverse, character-driven sci-fi that feels both exciting and thought-provoking. Books that fall into the dystopian sub-genre will always get my attention. Books comparable to Red Rising by Pierce Brown, Dark Matter and Recursion by Blake Crouch, The Martian and Project Hail Mary by Andy Weir.

What I don’t want: Historical Fiction, Middle Grade, or Spiritual.

Let’s work together to bring your story to the world! If any of this resonates with you, I’m excited to hear from you and see how we can make your manuscript shine. Feel free to query me at erik@breakevenbooks.com.
