Happy Valentine’s day to everyone out there! Spend today with your loved one and do something special even if that is only watching a show together or just spending some quality time hanging out.
Or if you are single, don’t sweat it. Today is your day to celebrate you and your awesomeness!
This is a short and sweet post but just wanted to let everyone know to enjoy their day regardless of being in a relationship or not. We don’t celebrate ourselves enough and we all deserve it. Stay tuned for a review of the second book in a trilogy I am reading. It will be posted tomorrow :).
Wow guys. This is so awesome. I know it is only a small achievement but still very exciting to know that the reviews we write are being read and that people are wanting more. We are so appreciative of everyone in the book blogging community and want to continue to bring more reviews and content to it.
Our next goal is to get to 400 followers! Let’s see if we can make that happen!
A shoutout to some bloggers that have helped us along the way or just were very supportive:
These are just some of them. Know that we value all of you and are super happy that you have been so supportive.
Well, that was a short and sweet post but we just wanted to share our gratitude. What are your goals? Do you celebrate little achievements or just the big ones? Comment below and let us know. We want to share your successes just as much as we do with our own.
It has been a flurry over here at Breakeven Books. We are getting prepared for the holiday season and are busy buying Christmas gifts, baking goodies and finishing up all the projects of the year.
And the best part about the holidays?! More time to read 🙂 I already have a list of 3 books I want to try and finish over the holidays. But I will still be saving time to do the regular Christmas traditions with the family such as driving around looking at Christmas lights with a thermos of cider, listening to Christmas music, and watching Christmas movies (especially It’s A Wonderful Life on December 24th).
I also get a week off of my full-time job so that is nice. Nothing like a little R&R over the holidays.
Does your family have any holiday traditions that you partake in each year? What are they? Tell me in the comments below 🙂
Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays bookworms.
I know this post is a little late but I just wanted to express my sadness for the loss of Stan Lee. This man was a legend and an inspiration to all. He created most of the comics that I loved and adored as I grew up (still love them to this day). He is the reason I got into drawing and art in general. I have one of his drawing guidebooks that I used to practice with as a kid. You could say that it is because of him that I went to school for Graphic Design and am working in the design field.
His memory will live on in all of his beautiful creations and the stories to come in the Marvel universe. We owe it to him to continue to read comicbooks and to believe in ourselves because we can do anything we put our mind to.

Wow guys. I saw this morning that I had some traffic referred to my blog from a source I had never seen before so I checked it out and it turns out that I am on the Top 100 Canadian Book Bloggers and Websites to Follow list! You can find me at #49 on the list (in the top percentile by 1% woop woop).
You can find the list here: https://blog.feedspot.com/canadian_book_bloggers/
It is days like this that show all the progress I have made with this little blog. I never would have started this if it wasn’t for my friend Kylee Bakowski. She gave me the idea to start a blog because I talked about books a lot and she saw it as a way to get myself connected with other like-minded people. I am glad that I listened to her and tried it out 🙂
The blog has been live for about a year now and it has been a productive year full of book reviews, being a part of various blog tours, interacting with so many authors and above all the book blogging community. I put enough time into this blog that it could be a full time job. Wouldn’t that be the dream….reading books for work!
Anyways, just a little update this morning but what a cool surprise to see that I made it onto a list. If you get a chance, check out the blogs on the list. A lot of them are the fellow bloggers that converse with me on a weekly basis and will provide excellent book reviews for authors out there.
It’s the holiday season in Canada where we eat our fill of turkey and drink our fill of wine, spirits or in my case … beer :). I love this weekend in October because I get to see my family and enjoy some nice rest and relaxation in the home that I grew up in. Usually, we go for a small hike or walk through the woods but the weather has been pretty drizzly so far this weekend so it has been spent inside with board games and the smells of delicious food filling the house.
I have been marking papers and reading a little bit but mainly catching up with old friends. I hope everyone out there is having a good Thanksgiving and are thankful for the important people they have in their lives. This applies to you too my American friends but in November 😛
I am thankful for my family and the friends that are pretty much family to me. For the people that just bring a smile to my face. And for all those books out there still waiting to be read 🙂
So with that, Happy Thanksgiving! Tell me about your Thanksgiving traditions if you have any in the comments below.
I have been so busy lately that I haven’t made much progress in terms of reading books so I figured I would ask you all what you are up to! I want to know what you have been reading!
What are you currently reading? What have you recently finished reading? What do you think you will read next?
I want to know. Let us start a conversation and talk about it. I can tell you all the books I plan to read (better take a seat and grab a snack because it’s a long list) and you could tell me if you have read them or what you think of the book covers or whatever we decide to discuss about.
I’m going to get back to my current book Fat Girl on a Plane by Kelly deVos now and hopefully get a big chunk of it done. I’m excited to write a review for this one 🙂
Comment below and lets chat 🙂 Happy reading!
So as many of you know, I am now teaching at Canadore College as a professor for the Appreciation of Media Design course. I never thought way back when I was in the Graphic Design program that I would ever be up at the front doing the actual teaching. But alas, here I am.
It has been taking a lot of my time as I have to lesson plan for each week and my books are feeling lonely (at least I think they are). On top of this, I still have my full-time job as a web developer and decided to do indoor volleyball for the autumn and winter season.
I am still doing my best to read as much as possible so have faith book bloggers, I will be adding more reviews soon. I am currently reading Fat Girl on a Plane by Kelly deVos and am about half way through.
How do you get through week by week with so much to do? Comment below what helps you stay organized? Maybe I could pick up some tips or stargies from you!
Talk soon bookworms!
Just a quick little update! I am moving to a new apartment this week so I will be super busy with that and have less time to read!
I know it sucks but I will be back at reading a bunch once I have settled in to my new place. I am working on finishing the book I am currently reading when I get time at night before bed because that is the only free time I seem to have. Also, its my birthday on Monday so that will be a lot of fun!
I hope to get more great book relted content to you soon. I have a new part time reviewer helping out and you should see some of his reviews in the upcoming weeks.
I can’t wait to share pictures of my new place. But that is all for now.
Keep on keeping on my lovely book nerds.
I just wanted to write a quick post because I am so grateful to all of you for reading the blog! I have reached 200 followers on the blog (it is up to 211 right now) and this was a personal goal of mine. I like to set goals to make myself push to achieve them and it is so cool when I do. But I wouldn’t have got to this point without all of you and for that, you have my thanks 🙂
And stay posted because I will have another review coming this week from another of Mark Bello’s books!
What are your goals? How do you stay on track with your goals? Tell me in the comments below!
Talk to you later bookworms.
