Day 3 of the book challenge and I am very excited about this one because I get to share with you a book trilogy that is my all time favourite series and I really think everyone should read it at some point in their lives. So without further ado, I introduce to you the Red Rising Trilogy by Pierce Brown.
This series is an action packed thrill ride. It is like the hunger games on crack. The setting of the book is in space and it has a roman god / greek mythology theme to it with lots of survival and rebellion. There are so many awesome characters in this book series and my favourite character is Sevro (not the main character). If you read the series, you will see why he is the best (I don’t want to give any of the awesomeness away). Here is a quote from the first chapter of Red Rising,
“I live for the dream that my children will be born free,” she says. “That they will be what they like. That they will own the land their father gave them.”
“I live for you,” I say sadly.
Eo kisses my cheek. “Then you must live for more.”
Everything about this series just gets my adrenaline rushing when I read it. If they turn this series into movies, I will be thrilled and fearful at the same time. I would love to see it come to life but I know I will be very critical since its my favourite series so I hope they can do it justice on the big screen.

Adult: The In Death series, by JD Robb
Oh what is the “In Death” series about? Sounds creepy and cool which is right up my alley ;P
JD Robb is the pseudonym of Nora Roberts and the series takes place in the mid to late 2050s and features one of the most kick-ass detectives: Eve Dallas. I really can’t recommend this series enough!

I definitely agree with Red Rising! Awesome series for sure! Along the Sci-fi line I loved the We are Bob series! Action, adventure, science. All about space exploration, the challenges with it, and the rivals from Earth trying to beat you to colonizing the universe.
Also, cheating by adding in a fun sci-fi series I really enjoyed called ‘Off to be a Wizard’. Quarky, funny, series, with lovable characters and great nostalgic references.
Ye I remember you telling me about “We Are Bob”, I have to get that on my shelf.

I’ve seen this series around a couple of times but never really looked them up. *oops*
Now I did! And it does sound intriguing.. I might have to end them to my TBR in hopes of ever actually reading them, haha.
As for my favorite series..
My all-time favorite will always be Harry Potter, because.. Well, because.
All Shadowhunter books as well, though! [Can’t we simply see them all as a series instead of separate series?!]
Andand.. I fell in love with Maas’ writing while reading the ACOTAR-books, so those too, maybe?
Oh, and let’s just add that I started Throne of Glass yesterday and those will probably be added to the list.

These are all really good series! HP is one of my favourites as well (I think everyone is in favour to HP because you are right, its HP :P). I didn’t want to pick one either but if I didn’t, I knew I would just keep talking forever lol.

Haha, pretty sure the easy way to go for everyone would just say “HP!” and call it a day. But it’s more fun to look for another series you love and give it some extra attention. :p

As a writer of mysteries (and other stuff), I enjoy the Lew Archer novels by the late Ross Macdonald. His novels are so much deeper than mere mysteries. They explore the human psyche and what makes people “tick,” and why. Macdonald’s works could also be called “literary.”

I feel that picking the ‘one best’ limits us to pick the same thing and exclude many interesting runners up. But I have to confess to you that I haven’t read Harry Potter or the Hunger Games. I can’t pick a favorite really (and LOTR is one story, not a series). I mentioned that I finished the Wheel of Time, which is brilliant. Compared to LOTR, though, it strikes me as a reeeeally long parable for gender harmony. Viva la différence. I read a lot of RA Salvatore as a kid and I enjoyed it. Also read a lot of Piers Anthony’s Xanth series, but he really is a bit of a perv when you think about it. I have to recommend Edgar Rice Burroughs series on John Carter of Mars, Pelucadar, and of course Tarzan. The real Tarzan before Hollywood made it kinder and gentler. I warn you though, I recently reread the Mars books, and he’s brutal… kinda need to understand his times. And of course The Chronicles of Narnia are exceptional and higly underrated.
I have some RA Salvatore books that I have been meaning to get into and yes the Chronicles of Narnia I read as a child and they were very good. I like spaced themed books so I will keep an eye out for the John Carter of Mars ones.
