What book makes you cry?

Well I am inside today as we got a dumping of snow last night so why not prep some blog posts for the week. This one is about a book that makes me cry. The first one that comes to mind, well the first book to make me cry ever was Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire when Cedric Diggory died at the end.  I don’t cry very easily so it’s hard to find a book that can make me spring a tear. I guess the last one to do it would be Allegiant of the Divergent Series by Veronica Roth.

Synopsis: The faction-based society that Tris Prior once believed in is shattered – fractured by violence and power struggles and scarred by loss and betrayal. So when offered a chance to explore the world past the limits she’s known, Tris is ready. Perhaps beyond the fence, she and Tobias will find a simple new life together, free from complicated lies, tangled loyalties, and painful memories.

But Tris’s new reality is even more alarming than the one she left behind. Old discoveries are quickly rendered meaningliess. Explosive new truths change the hearts of those she loves. And once again, Tris must battle to comprehend to complexities of human nature – and of herself – while facing impossible choices about courage, allegiance, sacrifice, and love.

SPOILER ALERT: Don’t read any further if you are reading this book.

This book brought a tear to my eye because you get to know and love Tris who is the main character. She is the embodiment of this entire series and you fight with her, struggle with her, and love with her. Then it gets to the end and like any amazing main character, she sacrifices herself to save everyone else and BOOM your main character is dead. This was probably the first book I have read where they killed off the main character and shifted the narration to another character after they died. It actually crushed me when I read it because I didn’t expect them to do that and I know it got a lot of backlash but I actually like that the author was bold enough to do that.
