Well I am inside today as we got a dumping of snow last night so why not prep some blog posts for the week. This one is about a book that makes me cry. The first one that comes to mind, well the first book to make me cry ever was Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire when Cedric Diggory died at the end. I don’t cry very easily so it’s hard to find a book that can make me spring a tear. I guess the last one to do it would be Allegiant of the Divergent Series by Veronica Roth.
Synopsis: The faction-based society that Tris Prior once believed in is shattered – fractured by violence and power struggles and scarred by loss and betrayal. So when offered a chance to explore the world past the limits she’s known, Tris is ready. Perhaps beyond the fence, she and Tobias will find a simple new life together, free from complicated lies, tangled loyalties, and painful memories.
But Tris’s new reality is even more alarming than the one she left behind. Old discoveries are quickly rendered meaningliess. Explosive new truths change the hearts of those she loves. And once again, Tris must battle to comprehend to complexities of human nature – and of herself – while facing impossible choices about courage, allegiance, sacrifice, and love.
SPOILER ALERT: Don’t read any further if you are reading this book.
This book brought a tear to my eye because you get to know and love Tris who is the main character. She is the embodiment of this entire series and you fight with her, struggle with her, and love with her. Then it gets to the end and like any amazing main character, she sacrifices herself to save everyone else and BOOM your main character is dead. This was probably the first book I have read where they killed off the main character and shifted the narration to another character after they died. It actually crushed me when I read it because I didn’t expect them to do that and I know it got a lot of backlash but I actually like that the author was bold enough to do that.
What book makes you cry of if you are less emotional, at least brings a tear to your eye? Let me know in the comments below! Talk to you later bookworms.
That was a great series and it caught me out. I cry at far too many books that I read
That’s not a bad thing 😛
Animal books, I avoid them like the plague.
Oh I get what you mean there.
Nyxia is the last one to make me cryy LOL it was also the title of my review post XD thats how much it hurts
Yep, that one made me cry too! The Fault in Our Stars left me crying for ages – anything with love and death will make me cry for sure, but I do love books that make me cry!
Yes I love them too! Keeps me coming back to read more.
The one book that brought tears to my eyes was Biology by Raven and Johnson; I was trying to read it under a tree while lying down and lost my grip and the heavy book whacked the end of my nose bringing tears to my eyes. Does that count?
Other than that, can’t recall a book that made me cry.
Lmao even before I got to the end, I knew where you were going with that! And sure it counts 😛
When Dobby died! The feels!
Oh, and Me Before You had me crying like a baby as well.
The last book that got me crying was They Both Die At The End. Knowing the end, telling yourself you’re NOT. GOING. TO. CRY. and then you do.. Ugh. :’D
Oh I forgot about Dobby and I feel shame for forgetting :/ because he was the best!
Oooooh, BAD! How can you forget about Dobby?! It’s.. DOBBY.
*This totally gave me an idea for your Christmas card. THANK YOU DOBBY.*
If you send me a card of Dobby with a knife sticking out of his chest….I won’t send you a sock so you will not be a free house elf!
No, I’m just sending you a knife so you can kill Dobby yourself SINCE YOU FORGOT ALL ABOUT HIM. That must’ve felt like a knife to the chest for the poor creature. 🙁
Haha you can be savage! I deserve that though 😛
Of course you do. You. Forgot. About. Dobby.
Unforgivable!
