The River Has Roots is a beautifully whimsical and hauntingly imaginative read that surprised me in all the best ways. From the very start, the dreamy prose and stunning illustrations pulled me in, setting the stage for a fae story that felt entirely unique.

The depiction of the fae in this book stood out—it was fresh, eerie, and carried an otherworldly edge that I haven’t seen portrayed quite like this before. The tone shift about halfway through, where the story takes on a much darker and more mysterious atmosphere, added depth and kept me fully engaged. I loved how it quietly transformed from something light and enchanting into something a little more sinister beneath the surface.
It’s also a quick read, perfect for a weekend escape into a strange and magical world. The illustrations added so much to the mood and really brought the story to life.
If you’re into fae tales with a twist, atmospheric storytelling, and a bit of dark whimsy, The River Has Roots is a little gem worth picking up.
