The Goodbye Song is a powerful volume that “tightens your throat.” Author, Karl Kristian Flores, masterfully guides readers across a stunning collection of thought. This book is like an important adventure that carries you everywhere. In today’s busy world, penetrating one’s heart may not work with an axe, a shout, or a lecture, but rather a haiku, a recipe, and a dialogue. From fictional letters written a hundred years ago to short stories about humanity’s future, The Goodbye Song is brave, direct, and beautiful.
I thought that this book was so unique. You get to experience it in so many different ways and each new part has so much to unfold. There is a nice variety of structuring so it keeps you interested and wanting to know what each part is about.
The book heavily focused around disconnecting ourselves from social media and enjoying being in the moment with no distractions and I found it so refreshing. It actually made me want to get out and explore by going on hikes and such instead of being stuck inside on all my devices.
It also focuses on one’s self and how we view each other and ourselves. I really like how deep the book gets and makes the emotions rise out of you.
I read his other poetry book that he wrote and enjoyed that one as well but this is my favorite. They both have fun illustrations to go along with each entry and it really adds to the whole experience.
I would recommend this book if you are a fan of short story collections or poetry!
Book Rating: 4/5
