Hey bookworms.
I have been so busy lately that I haven’t made much progress in terms of reading books so I figured I would ask you all what you are up to! I want to know what you have been reading!
What are you currently reading? What have you recently finished reading? What do you think you will read next?
I want to know. Let us start a conversation and talk about it. I can tell you all the books I plan to read (better take a seat and grab a snack because it’s a long list) and you could tell me if you have read them or what you think of the book covers or whatever we decide to discuss about.
I’m going to get back to my current book Fat Girl on a Plane by Kelly deVos now and hopefully get a big chunk of it done. I’m excited to write a review for this one 🙂
Comment below and lets chat 🙂 Happy reading!
Currently reading Transcription by Kate Atkinson. Hadn’t heard of Fat Girl..sounds interesting so I’ll add to my own super-long TBR! 🙂
I haven’t heard of that one either but I will look it up 🙂 I wasn’t sure what to expect with this one but I am really enjoying it so far. How big would you estimate your TBR is? I think mine is down to about 68 books 😛
I just checked and I’ve got 100 books on my GoodReads TBR! 😑
Oh lol I wasn’t counting my Goodreads one. That was just physical books on my shelf 😛 oops
Oh my physical TBR is only 2 books deep! 😊
I wish. I really have to work on my bulk spending habits when it comes to books. I just can’t control myself when I am in a bookstore.
😂
Just finished re-reading Tao Te Ching – Lao Tzu. Picked it out of my traveling library in a study of metaphysical and philosophical thought. (Unlike you, I’m not a Professor. Reading it was more of a personal study. Still have much to learn in writing for different genres.) A friend – Robin Dover – gave me an inscribed copy of his book – Scarab of the Black Vatican. I plan on taking the time to read it in honor of his gift. Even though it is not in a genre I would gravitate toward in my own thought. Thanks for asking.
Both sound intriguing! I hope you enjoy them Jay 🙂
For fiction I’m partway through Stephen King’s Dark Tower series (finished Wolves of the Calla). Started rereading that 70s book The Forever War by Haldeman. Not sure if I’ll finish it because the casual sexism jumps out and slaps you in the face now. Also, the characters are supposed to have an IQ of 150 and higher, and none of them show any evidence of that. Can’t believe I liked this book when I was a teen.
Non-fiction I’m reading The Eternal Frontier: An Ecological History of North America and Its Peoples by Tim Flannery, and The Tangled Tree: A Radical New History of Life by David Quammen. Also just reread The Ends of the World by Peter Brannen, on the apocalypses that led to five mass extinctions over the past few hundred million years (an excellent book).
My TBR list on my Kindle has 487 books on it, not including reference books. Next up to read is one of the books you sent me to review (Vassar’s Provider Prime). I have some more John Scalzi to read too. I space his books out because many of his characters use the same bantering type dialogue–which is funny, but it seems unlikely the characters, including alien races, would all talk the same way with that back-and-forth witty repartee. If I don’t space them out I’ll start getting the characters from his book mixed up with characters from his other books as they act and talk in too similar a manner.
Wow, 487 books is a huge list! But if anyone can do it, it would be you. You are probably the fastest reader I know 😛
I’ve been wanting to read some Stephen King but I’m not sure when I will find the time to get to that. I think I am going to space some graphic novels into my TBR to space out the novels.
I’ve been trying to finish some series i started ages ago… Currently reading Glass Magician (2nd book in the Paper Magician series) and finished a dystopian tilogy i started in 2016. Hehe.
I’m not sure what i’ll pick next, but i have a Stephen King book yet unread and it’s bothering me 😀
Oh, I love magic :P. They sound like a good series. It’s always so satisfying when you finally finish something that you started ages ago.
I think 😘♡
i finished reading the hating game by Sally Thorne and uprooted by Naomi Novik and Soul Swallowers by D. Wallace Peach – all five star reads. i have a few books to consider, but i have yet to decide on.
They sound wonderful! I wish I had that problem of actually deciding what was next to read 😛 I have a structured list of what needs to be read for my blog.
that sounds…. hmmmm, organized and laborious. I like my books spontaneous.
It is sometimes but I end up liking a lot of the books on my list.
we follow what works best for us. I’m glad this way works for you. I’d probably procrastinate and start looking at something outside my list. +, a lot of times i have an eye on a book but when i pick it up it’s just not the one i want, so i put it down to be read later.
Fair enough. I find that I tend to judge books by their covers so I am trying not to do that anymore because some have really surprised me with how great they were.
no, i dont do that either. i don’t even read the synopsis because they make the book lose the appeal. i often read the first few pages. If it catches my attention, i keep going. If it’s good, but not what i’m looking for, i postpon it for later.
That’s a good plan!
Just finished “The Power” by Naomi Alderman WHICH WAS PHENOMENAL and am currently reading “MaddAddam” by Margaret Atwood (third book of series including “Oryx and Crake” and “The Year of the Flood”).
I highly recommend all of them if you haven’t read them before. All are dystopian fyi
I LOVE dystopian! They are the best books with infinite possibilities. I will take a look at them next time I visit which is hopefully soon 🙂 I hope the hot tub/deck is treating you guys well !
currently reading the nerdiest fantasy series ever but it’s the Sword of Truth series by Terry Goodkind. I’m on Temple of the winds now. Just finished reading an AMAZING memoir about a journalist kidnapped in Somalia called A House In The Sky and I will probably read Brain On Fire next 🙂
Oh nice! I love fantasy series 🙂 and I watched Brain on Fire on Netflix. It was pretty intense so enjoy the book.
Am reading “Mind is your business” by sadhguru
