I am going to ignore the rules for this one and pick 2 books because they both stick out in my mind when I think of this question. The two I choose are Eleanor and Park by Rainbow Rowell and The Fault in Our Stars by John Green.
Eleanor & Park Synopsis: Two misfits.
One extraordinary love.
Eleanor… Red hair, wrong clothes. Standing behind him until he turns his head. Lying beside him until he wakes up. Making everyone else seem drabber and flatter and never good enough…Eleanor.
Park… He knows she’ll love a song before he plays it for her. He laughs at her jokes before she ever gets to the punch line. There’s a place on his chest, just below his throat, that makes her want to keep promises…Park.
Set over the course of one school year, this is the story of two star-crossed sixteen-year-olds—smart enough to know that first love almost never lasts, but brave and desperate enough to try.
The Fault in our Stars Synopsis: “I fell in love the way you fall asleep: slowly, then all at once.”
Despite the tumor-shrinking medical miracle that has bought her a few years, Hazel has never been anything but terminal, her final chapter inscribed upon diagnosis. But when a gorgeous plot twist named Augustus Waters suddenly appears at Cancer Kid Support Group, Hazel’s story is about to be completely rewritten.
These two books just took ahold of me and kept me reading non-stop until I finished them. The way both couples meet and the fact that they are all misfits just make me want sequels (even though you can’t really make a sequel out of these). Eleanor is a puzzle to Park and as the days go on, he keeps wanting more and more to figure her out. Hazel is a sick kid that doesn’t know if she will even get to experience a love worth fighting for until she meets Augustus. Young love is something to cherish and remember because everyone’s first love is definitely the deepest and will be with them forever. You don’t forget your first love. Both of these stories are beautifully written and worth picking up if you see them at a bookstore. They will give you so many feels.
Let me know what your favourite romance books are in the comments below. Even if romance isn’t your genre, see if you can come up with a book that made you feel some sort of love or warmth in your heart 😛
My favourite romance book is probably The Fault In Our Stars by John Green. 😀 My copy is completely tattered. Another kind of romance novel that broke my heart was Two Boys Kissing by David Levithan. It’s pretty sad though. But I just love the unusual narrator in that book. Still have to read Eleanor and Park, it’s been on my TBR for a year now. 🙂
Nice yea I have read The Fault in our Stars multiple times. That’s exciting that we have the same favourite 😛
If I’ve read a romance book I’ve purged it from my memory. Haven’t even read the Outlander series; too many feels with people acting idiotic and endlessly ruminating on their feelings. Nothing ruins a good book like a love story. 😉
Probably the closest I’ve read are Chelsea Quinn Yarbro’s books, the Count Saint-Germain series. The characters pull you right in, and you root for them to do well.
Haha fair enough!
The Night Circus !! ❤️ Absolutely Brilliant 😏 Join my review here if you want to take a look : https://bookidote.com/2016/04/09/the-night-circus-by-erin-morgenstern/
Eleanor & Park was such a fun read!
As for my own favorite.. I don’t really have one, although The Charm Bracelet by Melissa Hill is a book I’ve read more than three times and I keep enjoying it. Also has a Christmas-vibe which would be an added bonus at this time of year!
Sounds great, I like reading Christmas themed books around this time of year.
Same here. Which is why it’s such a pity that I have no Christmas-themed ARC’s on my list, darn it.. :’D
You will find some 😛
I am not the biggest fan of romance novels, but I just finished Turtles All the Way Down by John Green and I didn’t dislike his writing so I’m thinking about picking up The Fault in Our Stars.
Nice I am reading that right now!
Can’t wait to hear your thoughts
Mine would probably be The Fault In Our Stars – I’m going with a classic☺️ I can’t count the amount of times I’ve read it, and I think it was the book that introduced me to YA?
Great choice! 🙂
